Hello there, what is the thing that we all want but don't want to work for? Is it million dollars? Nah. Is it losing weight? Yep. And there is something that we all love but that does not help to achieve that goal which is sleep. So let's do the impossible and combine these two things. Lose weight while you sleep. But to do that the first thing you need to do is

1. Boost your metabolism

You know some people can eat whatever they want, skip the gym and not gain any weight, their that enviable magic comes from their thyroid gland which is a butterfly-shaped organ in the neck. That basically is the powerhouse of your metabolism. It produces hormones that control how well your body burns the calories you take in. Fuel up your body's natural fat-burning machine by giving it what it wants. That is foods rich in Iodine, Zinc, and, Selenium including Iodized sea salt, seaweed, meat, shellfish, and Brazil nuts.

2. Drink Enough water

Good old H2O gives you a 10 to 30% metabolic boost, especially cold water. A scientific study shows that cold water forces your body to burn more fat since it has to heat up the water to keep your belly warm. 6 to 8 cups of water a day is enough to increase your resting metabolism to 50 calories a day. In other words, you will be burning fat while resting.

3. Take a cold shower

The same tricks work with the water you bathe in. If it is lower than 70ºF, your body tries to stay warm by producing heat. This speeds up your metabolism and you burn more calories. But don't take my word for it. A study from the National Institute of Health shows that showers below 70ºF increase metabolism by 93% and that number jumps up to 350% when the water is at 57ºF. Start with 5 minutes cold shower and increase your exposure time by a minute every week, if you can handle it.

4. Rest properly

Now all these tips will help you burn calories as you sleep, all that jazz about higher resting metabolism. But just sleeping for 8 hours takes 300 calories on its own. Plus when you don't get enough sleep, your body will ask for more energy. As it cannot get from sleeping, your body will look for it from food. And then your hormonal balance will level get all messed up. Then your body will start producing more hunger hormone and less fullness hormone. A study took a handful of healthy adults and asked them to sleep just 6 hours a day for 5 weeks. The results? their resting metabolism slowed down by 8%.

5. Lower your room temperature

When you are cold, your body will need to burn more fuel to stay warm. And that fuel is calories. So the colder it is, the more calories it will get rid of. The best way to do it is to turn your thermostat down to 65ºF while you sleep. Your body will be doing all the work while you sleep. Just make sure not to put too many blankets on to stay warm, otherwise, the only benefit you will see is your electric bill.

6. Get yourself a cup of morning coffee

I am not talking about a full-fat latte whipped cream coffee. But instead, get yourself a nice plain black coffee. It can increase your metabolism and help you burn fat while you roll around. The same national institute of health looked at the effects of caffeine and found that it increased 29% of fat burn in slimmer people and 10% who had some extra weight. caffeine goes straight to your nervous system and orders the fat cells to break down.

7. Change your cooking oil

You don't need to give up on fried foods. Just switch your cooking oil to something healthier like coconut or palm kernel oil. Research shows that people who add two tablespoons of coconut oil to their breakfast aren't hungry the lunch and they have less appetite later in the afternoon. These two oils are also broken down and absorbed quickly into the body and they help your metabolism to get the job faster.

8. Spice up your meals

Add chilies, jalapenos, and pepperoni to your diet. These spicy foods contain a substance called Capsaicin. That's what has you reaching for the milk when you eat super spicy stuff. Anyway, it can help your metabolism move faster. I am talking 10 extra calories with every meal. Spicy food also decreases your appetite. That slice of pizza will make you feel fuller for longer and you won't get hungrier before bed.

9. Use Apple cider vinegar

Its been proven that people who add cider vinegar to their diet cut 200 calories every day. Because it suppresses their brain that controls their appetite so they didn't feel as hungry. It also reduces the amount of fat build-up In their body. So adding just one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to your salad can kick-start your metabolism and keep it from slowing down.

10. Eat Complex Carbs

Your muscles use them to speed up your metabolism. Here is how it goes. Let's say you are eating complex carbs that could be a bowl of whole-grain pasta or oatmeal. Your body breaks those carbs into sugar to give you energy. If that sugar isn't used it gets stored as fat but if you are lifting weights the fuel is used as energy to keep you going. Bodybuilders take in about 50% more carbs to fuel their workouts and their metabolism is 14% faster than normal humans.

11. Eat more Proteins

Your body burns more calories to process protein than it does while breaking down carbs and fats. As an example, you eat 200 grams of chicken meat it contains 330 calories. Your body will burn 99 of those calories just to digest them. Protein will also help you build muscle. But that brings me to the next point.

12. Hit the Gym

Yea yea I know, The idea was to lose weight while sleeping. But hear me out, if the protein is not exercised your body will turn them into fat. So even though consuming protein is healthy, you must control what your body does with it. Strength training with weight or just bodyweight exercise can make your muscles bigger, and toned muscles burn 50 calories more a day when you are just lying around. Side-to-side hops or squats can help you burn even more fats after your workout has ended. Doing nothing and sleeping are great and all, but if you want to scorch those calories while you are lying around, regular workouts will do it. Besides, you will have nice and toned muscles as a bonus.

13. Add Fiber to your diet.

Fibers found in foods like oats berries broccoli beans and nuts, boost the metabolism period. Maybe you continue to eat unhealthy foods but you at least combine them with some beans, apples, and strawberries. When the fiber enters your digestive system, it prevents your body from absorbing excess fat. Foods high in fiber also take more time to chew. So you will also feel fuller for longer.

14. Don't cut your calories

There is a myth that if you eat fewer calories, your body will jumpstart your metabolism as soon it senses food in your stomach. Well, actually it's the opposite. When you don't eat enough your body slows down its functions to save energy. Then it will feed on those muscles that you work so hard to build. And it will store more fat in your body since your body considers fat as an insulator to protect the organs. The trick is to eat enough calories every day and make sure your diet has plenty of fiber, complex carbs, and proteins. Just don't let yourself go hungry.
